I work with small presses and individual authors to improve their manuscripts or prepare books for publishing. With nonfiction, when an author comes to me, they often have a wealth of information to share but they’re not sure how to turn this resource into a book. I help them to find a way to present what they know clearly and completely, and in a logical order that’s engaging and easy for a reader to follow.
I also work with fiction authors on a structural level and edit novels, novellas and short stories, mainly in the speculative genres. I also curate anthologies and collections.
In trade publishing processes, manuscripts go through a structural editing stage, and this is where I specialise. Editing is so much more than correcting sentences and spelling errors. It can be a type of mentorship for first-time authors.
I opened LZS Press to publish my own projects and with this understanding can help you from conception to publication. As well as working with small presses, I also work with fiction and nonfiction authors directly – new and experienced – often commencing at the structural level. I’m happy to schedule a chat and see if I can help you with your project.
